Introduction
MITS Journal is committed to protecting authors’ rights and maintaining journal integrity by strictly handling cases of copyright violations, plagiarism, and professional misconduct. We use software like Turnitin to screen for plagiarism. If plagiarism is detected, we may correct, retract the article, notify relevant academic bodies, or take legal action. Complaints will be addressed promptly following COPE and OASPA guidelines.
How We Handle Plagiarism
• We use software to check for duplication in submitted papers.
• If a paper is found to have plagiarized other work, including copyrighted material without permission, or has questionable authorship, we may:
• Publish a correction.
• Withdraw the article.
• Report the issue to the author’s institution or relevant academic bodies.
• Take legal action if necessary.
Plagiarism Detection Tools
Plagiarism can be detected using Turnitin. Papers that show evidence of plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be automatically rejected. We handle reader complaints about plagiarism promptly and according to COPE and OASPA guidelines.
Reporting Plagiarism
To report plagiarism, follow these steps:
• Inform the editor of the journal where the plagiarized article is published.
• Send both the original and plagiarized articles, highlighting the plagiarized sections.
• If plagiarism is confirmed, the editor will arrange a disciplinary meeting.
• The editor of the journal with the plagiarized article will contact the editor of the journal with the original article.
• The plagiarist will be asked to explain.
• If there is no response or the explanation is unsatisfactory, the article will be permanently retracted.
• The plagiarist will be blacklisted and barred from submitting to the journal for at least 5 years.
• The head of the plagiarist’s institution will be notified.
